Little Bird
Princess Charlotte and Prince Jacob lived in a castle in the forest with their Papa the King and their Mama the Queen.
One day they were playing hide and seek in the forest and didn’t notice that they were moving farther and farther away from the castle.
They got tired and decided to take a break by a stream and eat some cookies that they had brought with them.
As Princess Charlotte took the cookies out of her pocket, they heard the sound of someone crying. They looked around and saw a sad bird sitting on a branch.
“Why are you crying little bird?” asked Prince Jacob.
“Children, I am hungry and cannot find any food.” replied the little bird.
Princess Charlotte and Prince Jacob broke up their cookies and fed him till he was full and happy.
“Thank you dear children.” he said before he flew off.
The children began playing once more and moved deeper into the forest. After a while, they realized that it was beginning to grow dark.
They looked around but saw nothing that was familiar.
They sat down on a log and began to cry.
Suddenly the Prince and Princess heard a voice ask, “Why are you crying dear children?”
They looked up and saw the bird looking at them.
“Little bird, we have wandered far from home and now we are lost. It is getting dark and our Mama the Queen will be worried.”
“Follow me, dear children, for I know the way back to the castle.”
The children followed the bird and soon were happily home again with their Papa the King and their Mama the Queen.
To thank the bird, the King built a bird feeder in the garden so the bird and his friends would never be hungry.
And whenever the children played in the forest, the bird was always nearby to help them find their way home.
